The nation of Vanuatu comprises 83 islands and islets spread across
the South Pacific, like emeralds on the crystalline waters. The most heavily populated island, and home of the

Vila, the capital of the island nation, is the home of much of the

Attractions on Efate
Efate offers a wide variety of attractions for visitors. You'll find jungle hiking
and trekking expeditions, sea faring, diving and much, much more. Exploring the island's beaches is an excellent
way to learn about and enjoy this inviting jewel, though the jungle also offers numerous chances to enjoy the
splendor of nature. If you're more in the mood for nightlife and dancing, then Port Vila is the destination for

Travel to and from Efate
The dominant method of arriving in Efate is by airplane. The international airport
in Port Vila has daily flight arrivals. However, travel by boat is also available. This method is perfect for those
with the time to explore Efate island and enjoy the waters surrounding them. Travel on the island can be
accomplished through car
rentals, hitchhiking and taxis (in Port Vila). Additionally, you can
charter a boat around Efate island for your travel needs. Walking and bicycles are a dominant form of
transportation across the island, as well.
Smaller Islands Off
As is the case with many Vanuatu islands, the
island of Efate is also surrounded with smaller islands, many of whom are Vanuatu holiday destinations in their own

On the northern side of Efate you will see Nguna, Pele and Emao islands. Nguna is
one of the most developed of Vanuatu outer islands for tourism, while Pele island is known for its
Pele Island tour. Emao island is home to Namarou Paradise Bungalows.
On western side of Efate are Moso, Lelepa and Hat islands. Moso and Lelepa islands
together form the harbour known as Port Havannah, used by the American soldiers in WWII. Hat island is also known
as Island of Artok, considered a forbidden place.
On the south-west side of Efate are Pango Point, a well known surfing spot in Vanuatu, and Erakor island, home to Erakor Island Resort.
