Tropicana Motel and Backpackers opens in Luganville, Santo
Tropicana Motel and Backpackers opened last week on Friday 28th January. The motel is locally
owned by Mr Kenneth and Mrs Irene Lav from Hog Harbor village of east Santo. The motel accommodation consists of
Single room with ensuite at 5,500 Vatu per night, double bunk room 2 persons with ensuite at 7,500VT per night.
Dormitory (bedding for 9 persons) with ensuite at 2,900VT per night. Family room-Queen and single bed with ensuite
at 11,000VT per night, Queen bed with ensuite at 10,500 VT per night, and long term rooms at negotiable rates.
Internet access is complementary for guests. The opening ceremony was witnessed by government and provincial
delegates, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr George Wells, who opened the motel on behalf of the
Minister of Tourism and Trade. Tropicana Motel and Backpackers is fully self contained.
VTO Information Centre being renovated
The Vanuatu Tourism Office’s Information Centre is currently being closed for renovation and
has been relocated to the1st Floor of Pilioko Building. It's in the same building as before, next to
VTO’s Marketing department. This is to upgrade the centre with the new brand look and feel in preparation towards
the March festivities on Discover What Matters. The renovation should be completed by Friday 16th of February 2011.
For now, visitors are welcome to the temporary information centre located on the 1st floor. Just follow the
