SPTO meeting in Vanuatu
The SPTO (South Pacific Tourism Organisation) Board of Directors met in Vanuatu on the
13th October 2011. "It is important that in tourism industry segments like cruise liners,
the man on the street gets their fair share of the benefits of the tourism dollar". South Pacific Tourism
Organisation chairman Sakapo Lolohea made the comment after he opened the SPTO Board meeting at the Warwick Le
Lagon Hotel in Port Vila, Vanuatu this morning.
“Instead of just going to the main ports and spending their money in established places and
shops, we would also like the handicraft people, the souvenir makers and other small business interests to
benefits, so the effect trickles to the man on the ground,” he said.
