As the main island and gateway to Vanuatu, Efate island offers numerous
activities to explore Port Vila town, the island itself and many other smaller islands dotting
around the main island. One of the best ways to explore all of this is from water, by taking one or
more of the many day and night cruises.
Scuba Diving in
In amongst many water-based activities, scuba diving is one of the most
popular activities, owing to numerous diving sites, including wreck diving sites. These are located
around Port Vila town, Efate island and Santo island. Most wreck dives date back to WWII, when many
battle ship and planes were sunk.
Located in Havannah Harbour, Moso island is a tranquil location great for
hiking. But it's particularly known for its diving sites around the island. It's home to
Tranquility Dive Resort and a turtle preserve. It can be reached via boat or shuttle bus from Port
Vila in an hour, or 20 minutes from Port Havannah.
